hi all....

how to make series like this :

data	expected result
jack	1
	2
	3
cat	1
dog	1
etc..

<tbody>
</tbody>

note : without helper column

any helps...greatly appreciated...

Why is B5 blank instead of a value of 4 like below:

In addition to the question JoeMo asked in Message #2 (whose answer I would also be interested in), I have a question... what happens if there are more than 5 rows belonging to the name in Column A... does the series repeat (for example, 1, 2, 3, 1, 1, 1, 2, 3, 1, 1, 1, 2, 3, etc.)?
