Is there a way for Excel to search linked files without having to have the filing to be searched open? i.e.; File A searches linked File B but unless user has File B open at the same time you will get #VALUE ! errors.

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
