Countif Formula Based on Cell Reference

Hi Everyone,

A B C
1 2 =countif(A1:A8,">B2")
2

Formula not working... answer should be 6 coz amogst 8 cells in the range 6 of them are greater than 2. if i enter >2 in the formula then its working but if i give a cell reference then the formula is not working

pls if anyone can help

found the answer

=countif(A1:A8,">"&B1)

it was the & sign which i was missing
