SUMIF or maybe SUMPRODUCT

Hi all,

I have an overtime spreadsheet that calculates the cost and productivity of the overtime hours per salesperson, per month.

Up until now the overtime rate has been 1.5 which was easy to calculate using SUMIF using month and then the ‘hours worked’ column to calculate.

I use this formula on a summary page to cross charge to another business area.

Now there are contracts with some overtime at 2. and I don’t want to add another collumn, I want to simply add ‘double’ to the drop down list in the ‘overtime rate’ column.

My question is: what function would I use to differentiate between 1.5 and 2. on a month by month basis? ie “January”, “double” = 4 hours.

Then if I could take that further and add names to the formula rather than having to filter the data entry sheet.

I hope this make sense - I’m fairly new to excel and I’d imagine this is probably quite simple but every tutorial I’ve looked at shows how to sum the two criteria but I want to sum the data that relates to the data within two/three other columns.

Thank you in advance
