Deleting blank rows in excel after spreadsheet

I've been using excel for years and thought I had seen a lot. I've tried every trick I know and all that Google shows too. I can't delete the rows after my 541 rows in my spreadsheet. The file size says it's only about 541 rows and 22 columns, since it has 175K total size but when you open the file it shows 125000 lines (the vertical drag bar shows it to be an extremely big spreadsheet). Any guru ever see this occur before and know how I can remedy this situation? Thanks

Due to confidential info I can't share the spreadsheet. Sorry.

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
.
If I understand your issue correctly ...

Go to the first blank row below the last row with data.
Highlight that blank row and all the others below it, all the way to the bottom of the sheet.
With those rows highlighted, right click and select delete.

Any "unseen" data in the blank rows will be deleted and it should clear the issue. (If I correctly
understand your issue).

Hey Logit,
You did understand my post, but it will not work. Believe me I've tried every normal way to conquer this task.

Not certain what to say ...

You've probably already tried this ... copy the the data ONLY and paste to a new workbook .. hoping you don't copy the corruption as well.

Couldn't you delete the data (not the whole rows) from row 1 to row 540, edit the data in row 541 (or whatever is the last row) to remove/disguise any confidential data & share that, assuming the problem still persisted?

yes, I tried that a couple of times...the problem is that the spreadsheet has hundreds of "excel comments" in certain cells and when you copy it to another sheet the comments don't copy over

I've actually been trying to figure out if there is a way to copy the comments over as well. If I can find that way then maybe I can bypass the issue.

Thanks.

I've tried to create a copy of the single sheet and put into a new file. The new copy only has about 350K rows when I do this...then when try to delete those rows it instead adds rows and giving me about 450K rows. Beyond frustrating to say the least.

What do comments have to do with providing a sample file? I thought the problem was about a file always thinking there were more rows than you think there should be?

What I was suggesting about deleting the majority of data etc was simply to resolve your problem of thinking that you could not share a sample file because of confidential data.
