Hello folks,

I have a workbook consisting of (virtually) 7 identical sheets. When I open the workbook I get a screen message to say that it can't link to an old worksheet. I have checked each cell on each of the seven pages, as well as checking Alt+F11 but I cannot find any references at all to this 'missing' link. Is there another way to check and find why I keep getting this message?

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Goto the Data Tab and click "Edit Links" in there should give you a clue as to what is causing it.

Hi Gallen,

I've tried that and the two links that are there are the two I linked to when setting up this third workbook.

I have also tried breaking each link in turn and saving the workbook under a different name and each time I still get this phantom reference message.

It says" Sorry, we couldn't open 'https://d.docs.live.net/Users/Mel/Skydrive/Cricket data/2017/Championship over rates etc.xlsm"

I only have then one option and that is 'OK'. Another screen message appears to say that: The file or path name does not exist, The file is being used y another program, The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.

Nothing in my new workbooks shows (that i can find) and link or reference to this 2017 file. I certainly have not tried to link to this old file as it is redundant anyway.
