Random dropdown arrow appearing

Hello

I have an excel workbook which runs on a date range. The dates are selected using a dropdown list, everything was working fine until last week when a random arrow (very similar to the dropdown arrow) appeared. When clicked it produces an empty list and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. It's not data validation that I have set up as I've already got data validation in the cell for my dates and this appears once the cell has been selected. This other arrow stays there all the time and confuses people as to why the dates aren't appearing when they click it.

Can anybody help please?

Thanks
