What-if analysis of only ONE variable change?

I have used what-if analysis, when I have 2-D table with 2 variables. i.e. if variable 1 has 10 different values and variable 2 has 7 different values, result table would be 70 results.

However, sometimes I need what-if analysis of only one variable that could have 1-X different values. It would be silly to build what-what if scenario for that because it would require many useless rows and columns. In fact now I only need what-if analysis of one single variable changed for another value. How could it be done effectively that requires only 1 cell?

Is there a tool or formula to effectively do "calculate results as if [linked cell] would have value X" ?

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Hi

It's the same tool. You don't have to use the 2 variables, you can just use 1.

P. S. notice that if you use just 1 variable, for ex. to build a vertical table, the formula will go above the second column, not above the first column, as for the case of 2 variables.
