Hey all:

First post here, thanks in advance.

I want to pull text from another cell and add it to myformula. For example, I have a formula below where I am referencing a differenttab of the workbook.

=SUMIF(Sheet1!C119:C123,2015,Sheet1!F119:F123)

I would like to be able to modify this formula so that I canreference a cell with “Sheet1” written in it. If we pretend “Sheet1” is in cellA1, in my mind it would like something like this.

=SUMIF(A1!C119:C123,2015,A1!F119:F123)

Any ideas?

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Hi & welcome to MrExcel.
Try
=SUMIF(INDIRECT(A1&"!C119:C123"),2015,INDIRECT(A1&"!F119:F123"))

2 options, depending on how much flexibility you need...
=SUMIF(INDIRECT(A1&"!C119:C123"),2015,INDIRECT(A1&"!F119:F123"))
=SUMIF(INDIRECT(ADDRESS(119,3,,,A1)&":"&ADDRESS(123,3)),2015,INDIRECT(ADDRESS(119,6,,,A1)&":"&ADDRESS(123,6)))
