Barcode/QR Code Query

Hi, I am currently putting together a database with over 300 items which randomly have to be shipped out and then brought back. I am going to produce a qr code for each item so I can book out and then book in each item into the database. How can I set the database so that each scan of the code will also produce the date it was scanned?

Is this possible?
