Dim fileloc As Long
fileloc = "G:\Infection Control\CDRNE\CDRN Prism Data\MLVA data\IC RAW EXPORT TABLE"

I want t use this fileloc string in several subsequent modules but I get an error message

Compile error Invalid outside procedure

Any ideas please

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
You can't initialise a variable outside a procedure but it looks like you really want a constant anyway, so:

Code:
Public Const fileloc As String = "G:\Infection Control\CDRNE\CDRN Prism Data\MLVA data\IC RAW EXPORT TABLE"

I have two sub routines in the same module that need to use the same path in different ways

Public Const fileloc As String = "G:\Infection Control\CDRNE\CDRN Prism Data\MLVA data\IC RAW EXPORT TABLE"

works in the 1st sub but not in the 2nd

Post the code please. I'd guess you've declared fileloc in the second routine.
