Am missing something? I'm trying to use the Analyze/Fields, Items, & Sets to create a new pivot column that is merely the first letter of any items in an existing column in my data set. Otherwise I would need to add a new column and use a formula like =left(a1,1) Seems like a waste of resources. Is Analyze/Fields only for mathematical/values???

Thanks
