Excel 2010

I'm struggling to simply fill a column with consecutive dates for a month, ie Fri 1 Mar 2019, for some reason. I've done this many times before but, today, this just won't work properly.

I've checked with Google but the links all same the same thing, ie type date, select cell, hover cursor to bottom right to get + then drag down.

I've tried all sorts of combinations, including in the 'Fill' options window ... but still not getting the incremental date down the column

I've also been to File > Options > Advanced but couldn't see any relevant options to adjust

Please can someone tell me how I can rectify this issue?
Many thanks for any help / advice

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.

I've just tried again, date used , as you have demonstrated, but I get increment each year ie Fri 1 Mar 19; Fri 1 Mar 20; Fri 1 Mar 21 etc ...

I'm clearly doing something wrong, but what ...?

Are you inputting an actual date, or is it text?

Looked in Format Cells - it show 'Custom' and 'ddd d mmm yy' !!! I've no idea how that selection came about. I've change it to 'Date' and tried again and ...

IT WORKED !!! Yay, Thank you so very much. I hadn't thought to check whether date or text etc.

Great stuff. I've very appreciative :)
