I'm scratching my head with this conundrum

I have two similar reports that mine the same data which lists transactions.

In my first report I have a column which shows the date of the last invoice raised to a customer:

{=max(if(Retailer=A1,InvDate,"None"))}

In my first report, if there have been no invoices raised to the customer then the cell is blank, which is what I want

In my second report, the same formula returns 0 which then defaults to 00/01/1900 as a date. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Excel Facts

Copy PDF to Excel
Select data in PDF. Paste to Microsoft Word. Copy from Word and paste to Excel.
If you have MAXIFS, you can switch to that function.

Otherwise:

{=IF(COUNTIFS(Retailer,A1,InvDate,">0"),MAX(if(Retailer=A1,InvDate)),"")}
