Hi all! I've been searching all over for a solution and I'm stuck, so I'm turning to the experts.

I have a large spreadsheet with data scattered across multiple rows. Example '2" yellow webbing' might be in cell C4 or it could be in T4 or anywhere in between. I want to search cells between C4:T4 to find 2" and put it in the cell my formula is in. 2" is just one of many that is why I'm using a wildcard and searching only the row which is based on the part number.

This is what I have so far and I get #value error.
"=LEFT(CHAR(34),SEARCH("*"&CHAR(34),$C4:$T4,-2))"

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
How about
=TRIM(LEFT(SUBSTITUTE(INDEX(C4:T4,MATCH("*""*",C4:T4,0)),"""",REPT(" ",100)),100))

Wow, you rock Fluff!!!! How could I take it a step further if I wanted to find a cell in that same range with 2" and the word webbing or hook?

There's probably a simpler way, but how about
=TRIM(LEFT(SUBSTITUTE(IFERROR(INDEX(C4:T4,MATCH("*""*webbing*",C4:T4,0)),INDEX(C4:T4,MATCH("*""*hook*",C4:T4,0))),"""",REPT(" ",100)),100))

Thanks again Fluff! I don't think I explained this part correctly. This doesn't do what I had in mind, but I am working with what you did and trying to make it do what I want it to do. I'm getting close.

Thanks so much for your time and expertise!
