Hi Guys,

I have a table like this:

Current AttemptsCurrent Average TimeGoalRemaining AttemptsTime I need to get to goal
50250.00210.0025.00> help here <

<colgroup><col><col><col><col><col></colgroup><tbody>
</tbody>
I'm looking for a formula on how much time I need to get to my goal. Math is not really my thing so I'm resorting to excel. Thanks guys.

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
The formula you are looking for is
((Total Number of attempts * Goal) - (Current Number of Attemps * Current Average)) / Remaining Attempts

Using your numbers

((75*210.00) - (50*250.00)) / 25 = 130.00. You must average 130.00 on your remaining 25 attempts to achieve an overall average of 210.00

And if your data row starts in Cell A2 the formula in E2 would be
=(((A2+D2)*C2)-(A2*B2))/D2

Regards

shane

Note that the way excel goes about working formulas out, its not completely necessary for all the brackets. Might be handy to understand whats going on but may also add more confusion.
