I am trying to determine the best way to look up potentially large amounts of data, and I dont know if sumifs on an entire column (like A:A) is any slower than a specific range (A1:A300) for example.

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
SUMIFS is not an array formula & while I would normally recommend only using the used range in a formula, the ...IF & ...IFS formula do that themselves so there shouldn't be difference in performance

thank you. Is there any difference in performance between sumif and sumifs? If I concantenated my criteria into one criteria to only have on lookup criteria, is that faster than having two seperate columns of criteria?

I very much doubt it, but if there is I suspect that you wouldn't notice.
