I copied data from my first sheet in excel to the second sheet by right clicking on a blank cell, then selecting paste special, and then paste link. I did this so that Excel will carry changes made on sheet one over to sheet two. The data being carried over are dates. Due to using paste link, Excel does not recognize the data on sheet two as a date so I can not sort the data on page two by date. I need to figure out how to make excel recognize that the data is a date to be able to sort. Thanks!

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
Check to make sure the dates on sheet 1 are actual Excel dates and not text. You can use the ISNUMBER function to check. If it returns FALSE then the dates on sheet 1 are text.
