Partial Match.

Hi all,

I have a small list of wells with 27 names that I need to match with another long list with almost 3000 names, and then I will highlight the matching values in small list.
The problem is that the names are not exactly same, for example on list has “A CROSS”, so another list may had “A-Cross”, or Hay 2-4 compare to Hay 2 4.
Please advise.

Hi Sohail,
you could try:
-use an extra colum with formulas like LOWER() and SUBSTITUTE() to transform your text into lower case where e.g. - and _ are replaced by spaces and than compare them
-using fuzzy lookup: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15011 or https://www.excel-bytes.com/fuzzy-lookup-in-excel/
