Hi

For some reason, I can no longer see my PERSONAL.XLSB file which holds ALL my macros. It was working this morning but then stopped!
When I try and open Excel I get the warning "Excel is running into problems with the .....personal.xlsb add-in. If this keeps happening, disable the add-in and check for available updates. do you want to disable it now?"
Pressing 'No' means Excel does not open, whilst 'Yes' disables it and Excel opens.

I have been into File --> Options --> Add-Ins --> Manage --> Disabled Items --> Go and re-enabled the file.

From what I have read, I then need to re-start Excel.

Unfortunately that then takes me back into the same loop!!

Can anybody PLEASE help?

Cheers
Small Paul.

That's unusual, you normally have your PERSONAL.XLSB file in your XLSTART folder not in your Add-in folder.

@MARK858 is correct

You should be able to find that workbook here:
Excel 2016 - C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLStart\
Excel 2013 - C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLStart\
Excel 2010 - C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLStart\
Excel 2007 - C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLStart\

If the workbook is NOT in the correct place move it and remove as an add-in
Test again

Otherwise You could try this
- find Personal.xlsb in folder as suggested above (we now call this folder A)
- move the personal.xlsb to a different folder (folder X) so that Excel cannot use it
- open Excel to test it opens cleanly
- create a very simple TEST personal file and save it to a (new) folder Z (save as a binary workbook with name Personal.xlsb)
- close Excel and move personal.xlxb from folder Y to folder A
- open Excel and make sure the message has gone away
- close Excel
- delete the NEW personal file in folder A
- open the personal.xlsb in folder X it and save it (in folder X) AS macro enabled workbook with xlsm extension
- test all the macros and save
- now save it as binary workbook with name Personal.xlsb (in folder X)
- close Excel and move the the file from folder X to folder A
- open Excel

Yongle & Mark858
Thank you very much for your replies.
I have recreated it (by copying all the macros from other machines I have put them on) and saved the file in XLSTART. I also have a back up!
Many thanks
Small Paul.
