I have a line graph in Excel on Mac. The size and location of the labels on the axis change based on the width of the characters included. Wider labels get slightly smaller and move up higher. Smaller labels remain larger and stay on the bottom. These are all the same number of characters. 2018-11 will stay large. 2018-08 will get small. I have found post about turning off autoscaling but these were older and I can’t find that option in the Mac. Any pointers would be appreciated, thanks!

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.

Have you tried changing it to a date axis as opposed to a text axis? Maybe since they are the same amount of characters, they will appear the same size. Expand Axis options, and under Axis Type, choose Date Axis. A date axis displays in chronological order at set intervals. Fingers crossed!
