Some dept will send me several version of Excel repeatedly whenever they have update.
I need to identify which one is which version. So, is it possible once I receive it, Excel has some kind of ID of this file I can copy out to ensure this one is this version other than using file name which user can change easily ?
Eg something I include in the file like [FilelastsaveDate] (In fact I still do not know how to do it, coz =now() keeps changing) & [FileSize] in a ID tab to identify it etc ?
Anything better than this ?
Any thought ? Due to policy, VBA is not allowed
Thanks

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
.
Too bad you can't utilize a VBA macro :

Code:
[COLOR=#0A0101][FONT=Consolas]<code class="vb keyword" style="white-space: nowrap; padding: 0px !important; font-family: Consolas, "Bitstream Vera Sans Mono", "Courier New", Courier, monospace !important; font-size: 1em !important; color: rgb(0, 102, 153) !important; border-radius: 0px !important; background: none !important; border: 0px !important; bottom: auto !important; float: none !important; height: auto !important; left: auto !important; line-height: 1.1em !important; margin: 0px !important; outline: 0px !important; overflow: visible !important; position: static !important; right: auto !important; top: auto !important; vertical-align: baseline !important; width: auto !important; box-sizing: content-box !important; font-weight: bold !important; min-height: auto !important;">Sub</code> <code class="vb plain" style="white-space: nowrap; padding: 0px !important; font-family: Consolas, "Bitstream Vera Sans Mono", "Courier New", Courier, monospace !important; font-size: 1em !important; color: rgb(0, 0, 0) !important; border-radius: 0px !important; background: none !important; border: 0px !important; bottom: auto !important; float: none !important; height: auto !important; left: auto !important; line-height: 1.1em !important; margin: 0px !important; outline: 0px !important; overflow: visible !important; position: static !important; right: auto !important; top: auto !important; vertical-align: baseline !important; width: auto !important; box-sizing: content-box !important; min-height: auto !important;">MyVersion()</code>[/FONT][/COLOR]

This formula will give you the version number as well :

Code:
=INFO("release")
