excel hyperlink issue

I created a monster. I have a workbook that isbeing used as an index of all our documents. Each row represents one document and each row is made up of several columns.
Each row has a hyperlink that spans the entire number of columns . The hyperlink is to a scanned document on the network. They hyperlinks were made by inserting a hyperlink in a4 thru say h4.
I assumed that counted as 1 hyperlink. But counting hyperlinks shows that counts as 8 separate links. I learned yesterday I have way few total links allowed per workbook than I have total entries available to me per page.
Seeing as my work book has several pages for different subjects with links created the same way, I believe I'm about to hit the wall. What I thought was one link per row is several. Except they aren't acting that way.

I thought the simple way would be to just remove links from all but 1 column in each sheet. NOPE. that breaks every link. That would result in a crippling amount of work to try to come back from.
Am I right, 1 row is made up of 8 separate but inter connected links? What is the fix?
Thanks

You could use a dynamic hyperlink formula based on your index & File names;

Can you post some sample data?
