Hello all,

I have a worksheet with a large table and when I add a row to the table, the first field in the table automatically increments the row number. No issues there.

What I would like to do is to have this row number act like a database index. That is, it would be assigned to that row and if I were to sort the table in a different manner, the row number would remain with the new sort. Right now, if I sort the table differently, the row numbers are still in sequence.

Is there an easy way to do this?

Thanks,

Stev

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
I have Power Query with my copy of Excel 2016. I went ahead and added an index column, but it only shows up when I want to a query.

Thanks,

Steve

not too much info in your posts and no any example of source data and expected result
but try to load table with index into the sheet
turn off refresh query
then sort
