I'm looking for a simple excel formula that will populate a cell with the date and time when the file is opened.

I appreciate the feedback.

Have you remembered to replace "password" with whatever your actual password is ?

And no, having to re-type the password when you do this manually is not an issue.
VBA expects the password to be entered only once.

Click the italics "fx" icon to the left of the formula bar to open the Functions Arguments dialog. Help is displayed for each argument.
I did remember to change the password to what it actually is. Thanks for the clarification on re-entering the password to lock.
