I would like to populate a value in cell say
a9 to a50 based on a value in cell say g5

I want to populate cells from a9 to a50 based on the following conditions:

the cell a9 will be 1 and the value cannot exceed the value in cell g5

assuming the value in g5 is 20, then the cell values from a9 to a50 must begin at 1 and terminate at 21.

Thank you,

I used the following but refinement of formula would be appreciated:
=IF(ROW()-ROW(A$8)<=B3,ROW()-ROW(A$8),"")

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
