I built an excel workbook that compares two excel sheets and shows what the changes are on a third sheet and also highlights the cells that are different. The only problem is if I add or delete rows because of the scope changing on the new sheet vs the old one then it does not work correctly. I think I need a VLookup or Index function to do it by the "SOW". See below my formula.

=IF(NewSOW!D5 <> OldSOW!D5, "New SOW:"&NewSOW!D5&" vs Old SOW:"&OldSOW!D5, "")

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
