Hello all,

Is it possible to create a line chart with points of interest? Let's say I use this data:

DayBookingsEvent
1/1/201978
2/1/2019320HH Mailer
3/1/2019160
4/1/2019290JV2 Mailer
5/1/2019300
6/1/2019140
7/1/2019230WE Email

So I'd have a line chart as you expect, but I want to have markers on it so I can try and correspond the events to the dates and hopefully draw a pattern that a mailing or email results in more bookings on the line chart.

I'm getting stuck with A) Having all dates across the screen instead of a compressed 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th etc view, and B) Actually putting the labels in.

Ideally I'd want them labelled across the top, aligned with the date and then a marker on the actual line itself.

Any ideas if this is possible? Thanks.

Hi,

Difficult to help you out with tailor-made solution without access to your file ...

Most probably ... you will find your own solution with some inspiration ...

See Andy's excellent site : https://andypope.info/charts/Hilolabel.htm

Hope this will help

Another option is to use an invisible line to position the points of interest text like this:

The EventLine data series values are 1.15 * the values for the Bookings so that the text is above the data labels for the Bookings. The EventLine series is a regular line chart set to No Color to make it invisible and the data labels are from cells D2:D8. This way the Event text always lines up with the correct date and the text moves if the values change.

Hope that gives you another option to consider.
