Named ranges

Very frustrating. I've created a named range, let's say 'Data' for the range A8:O300. I use 'data' in an Index/Match lookup and it works fine. Now, I need to use the same Index/Match formula on a different sheet. I realize that the named range stays, so to speak on the first sheet, and the formula will look up the information from that first sheet. But, if I delete the range name completely; then select the cells where the data is on the other sheet and name this new range 'Data', it should work, right? It doesn't. The formula still picks up the information from the original sheet where the range name was used.

Any ideas? thanks!

Found the issue.... there were two other named ranges I was using. had to delete them and rename as well....
