I am trying to troubleshoot the following formula

=IF(ISBLANK($J4), SUM($K4+30), SUM($J4+30)) where J4 & K4 are date fields.

When a date is is not entered in either J4 or K4, this formula displays dates based on the year 1900. How do I fix this to show a blank cell?

Thank you in advance.

Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!
It's not clear what you want exactly, I'm guessing perhaps something like this
Code:
=if(isblank(j4),if(isblank(k4),"",k4+30),j4+30)
Add the $ symbols back in if required.

Not entirely clear what you want, but how about
=if(K4="","",if(j4="",K4+30,j4+30))
