Hiya guys

Im after a formula that essentially does a sumproduct but instead of multiplying i want to take away

ie im after =sum(B2-A2,B3-A3,B4-A4,B5-A5) etc

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.

Control+shift+enter, not just enter:

=SUM(IF(ISNUMBER(A2:A5*B2:B5),B2:B5-A2:A5))

.. or possibly just this?

=SUM(B2:B5)-SUM(A2:A5)

Although I think Peter's SUM-SUM is the efficient way to do it in this case, there might be some value in learning how to use SUMPRODUCT effectively.

=SUMPRODUCT(B2:B5 - A2:A5)
