Can someone please help? I have this data in excel 10 and I’ve copied and pasted values from 2 diff databases into one worksheet for comparison. Currently my columns are laid out horizontally and the following data is entered
A. account numbers 16023-74530 ascending order from database 1
B general ledger
C portfolio code
D (I want 1st set return values here )
E (I want 2nd set of return values here )
F account numbers 1000-8000 from database 2
G Y/N in the column referring to the Acct number in column F and if it’s an account that needs reconciling (Y for yes and N no)
Basically columns A-C represent data from one database or source and im comparing Them with another column of data from another source (columns F-G)
D and E is where I want the results to land.
I want a formula that says look in column A for an account number and go to column F and find it. If it exists then put that account number in column D and if it doesn’t then do nothing. The second result I need goes in column E. If that account number exists in column D then I need to know if it’s a reconciling account based on column G. Ultimate result :
Column A is my account number that I need to search and find in a list of account numbers located in column F and not all those accounts in column A will be found so use column D to tell me if there’s a match but I also need to know if this account needs to be reconciled. Column G!!! Please help! I think it’s a INDEX formula but I don’t know how or where to start! Any input would be greatly appreciated :)

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
Maybe something like this.
