Hi Guys,
i have a unique problem I cannot find a solution for. Need help,

I have a tabel where the first column is a VLOOKUP column from a list of names. Subsequent columns are input data with no formulas.

Now, If I add a name to the name list, it shows up in the first column, but, obviously the data in the rows would now be incorrect for almost each person. If I sort the name list, the first column (VLOOKUP) changes and is accurate. However all the other data is not.

Is there a way to sort the vlookup column AND their respective rows once the name list is sorted?

Any input will be much appreciated.
Thank You

Hi there. Rather than a VLOOKUP, (which is dynamic as you identified), you could use a data validation list of the range.

Would that sort the respective rows though?
It does not. I would like the rows to sort according to the name.

If you have used data validation to select the name, you can then sort the whole table and the names will go with the rest of the row. I think what your saying is that you want additional names to be slotted in at the right point, and the data move down accordingly. In which case, you are stuck with adding new names to the bottom and then sorting.

Correct - that's the way I have been doing, sorting the table - was looking for a way to just sort the list and everything else to fall into correct rows, but, don't believe there's a way to do that.
Problem is I have 12 tables (months) and have to do all of them manually....

THANK YOU
