I have been trying to format a cell for swim times: mm:ss:## the ## needs to be a number between 00 and 99. I have tried customizing etc, but I really don't know what I'm doing. Can anyone help?

Excel Facts

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Hi Lynne

You are almost there.
Got to Format=>Number=>Custom and set up the format as mm:ss.00

You can then enter a time of 1 min 15.83 secs as 1:15.83 and that is how it will display.

Internally, Excel will still store it as fractions of a day and in the formula bar is will show as 00:01:16

Any calculations carried out, will add (or subtract) the decimal seconds you have entered correctly.

I've been having a great deal of difficulty creating a graph using swim time data using dates and times in the format mm:ss.00
I am using the following data:

12/20/2014 01:29.07
2/7/2015 01:26.67
2/28/2015 01:24.74
10/25/2015 01:16.82
11/7/2015 01:17.03
11/21/2015 01:14.50
11/28/2015 01:14.85
1/9/2016 01:13.01
2/6/2016 01:09.53
2/13/2016 01:08.21
3/13/2016 01:08.95

Where column A contains dates and B contains times as minutes:seconds.hundredths
I'd like to have the times on the x axis if possible. I can get them on the y axis with a range, but I can't find an option to change the range if using x axis. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
