Hi I am having problems with this Hyperlink -
=HYPERLINK("J:\Automotive account managementJICC Folderstd lettersSTD.doc","Standard Format Letter")

It opens the file but occasionally also closes the worksheet it is saved in. Is there a way to stop this at all?

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
If you hyperlink from a 'clean' (ie not changed since the last save) document to another file it will close down the original. The only way round this I found was to to include a volatile formula (such as =NOW()) in a hidden cell somewhere on the sheet, so the file thinks it's 'dirty' and doesn't hide itself. (There is a way to modify the hyperlink so the originsal file stays open, but I've never got it to work properly and it's a right pain if you have many hyperlinks in the file).

Alternatively, press Alt and the left cursor arrow to get back to your original.
