I've seen many discussions on various BB's on the subject of File/VB Module protection; unprotecting worksheets and workbooks being the easiest as there is a lot of free software/Add-Ins available that will do this.

My main query concerns files that have protected VB modules. Some BB's say that Microsofts security on this isn't that good and the protection can easily been broken, so gaining access to the VB coding. But what they don't say is how it's done. I've seen something, somewhere, saying that the VB protection can be broken by using some coding ...... something like "EnableEvents".

Can the protection of VB modules be easily broken or not? If so, how?

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Hi,

The VBAProject protection is relatively weak. However, for the vast majority of people it serves its purpose. I don't think we are going to be thanked by those that try to protect their work from prying eyes if we post details on how to crack the protection.

Sorry if this appears 'holier than thou' but just because the protection is weak I don't think that gives us the right to exploit it. If the theft-protection on a car is weak does that mean it is OK to steal it? I suspect you'll get the same response from others too.

What do you actually want to achieve? Perhaps we can help you in another way.
