if you have a lot of data (a long, long list) and you need to move up and down the list frequently, can you get to the end of the worksheet without using the scroll bar? I can never get that right and always overshoot or undershoot. Similarly can you mark locations in the sheet so that you can go straight to them without searching/scrolling

Thanks
Aditya

As an aside, could someone explain what a pivot table is?

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.

See the Excel Help topic for "PivotTables: Analyzing data interactively". The table component labels are linked to a descriptive popup text box.

See the Excel Help topic for "Use shortcut keys in Microsoft Excel". Specifically look at "Move and scroll on a worksheet..."

You can also use the Edit | Go To... menu command. You can also use the Insert | Name | Define... menu command to create your own named destinations that would be listed in the Name Box just left of the formula bar.

Hi
Click in your column, hold down control and press the down arrow to get to the bottom, press the up arrow to get to the top.
This works if you have an unbroken list.
