Basic Beginners Query

After copying a macro and then pasting it into the visual basic editor, how do i then save it so that when i go to macros and attempt to run it it appears.?

No need to apologize, we've all been there. After copying your macro you need to select the workbook where you want to keep you macro. In your Project Explorer window (usually the top left window with the title - "Project - VBA Project") highlight the workbook where you want to keep your macro. Then, from the main menu, select Insert|Module. Your window on the right hand side will then have a blank module, and you'll notice that you have a module folder under your file in the Project Explorer window. Paste your macro in the module window and then save your file (File|Save).

Is this explanation sufficient?

Sorry Barrie, still no joy - after selecting the workbook (VBAProject newtest.xls), i then inserted the module and pasted my macro.
Then saved - file>save newtest.xls, it appeared to save, but i still can't find the macro when i want to select it as discussed above.

Can you e-mail your file to me so I can actually see it (taking out any sensitive information)?

I've cracked it, I couldn't find it because it was a macro that opened up a message prompt only when the file is opened - sorry mate but thanks for your time.
