I am sharing .xls files on an intranet and also as shared files to work on between employees. The problem is sometimes somebody will just view or work on a file and it will lock itself so the other user cannot work on it, even though the user had closed it and did not lock it, we are running a server with win2000.
thank you

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
Hmmmmmmmm, Are your users getting any messages when they open the workbook such as the file is open by another user and is locked for editing (or something similar to that)
I've ran into a problem something like this before and I know this sounds crazy but I could minimize the workbook and then maximize it and the problem would be gone. This was working across a server also.
