How can I hide the row and column references in excel. I'm not sure exactly what they are called but I'm talking about the row numbers and column labels.

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
In VBA, use: -

ActiveWindow.DisplayHeadings = False

(make sure you turn it back on :)).
