When a file is saved as a template, it becomes available for users to create NEW Workbooks based on the template, while maintaining the integrety of the original. This is useful in many applications. For instance, a form that one fills out on a regular basis can be pre-populated with data that does not change. Placing a template on a shared drive is an excellent way to distribute a file and beause there is only one original, making changes is easier. Probably one the the most useful parts of a template is the ability to attach it to an database file to facilitate data entry, especially when more than one person is entering information.(See Template Wizard with Data Tracking)
