I am very new to excel and wanted to know how to change the size of just one cell . I know how to change the entire colume width but is their a way to change the width of just one sell? Also is their a way to prevent a cells formula from being changed so that it won't be deleted accidently. Thank you

as far as i know you can't literally change the size of one cell but you might want to play around with cell merging (format menu>cells>alignment).
you can protect the sheet or workbook (tools menu>protection)to prevent over-writing formulae, but you may want to first unlock cells (format menu>cells protection)that need to remain editable though.
