I am exporting from SASI student database and the birthdates export by yyyy/dd/mm and we need to format the birthdates into mm/dd/yy. We cannot change the birthdates. I have contacted SASI and they say it is an Excel problem.
Any answers?

Is the date being imported as text? Try adding another column and using the datevalue() function to convert the string to a date, then format as you like.

Or highlight the section, click (menu) Data-> text to columns. Click next. Uncheck all boxes, click next. Choose Data under the column data format, and select the MDY format. Click finish.

Cheers, Nate
