Ghost of Auto Recovery Pane

When I run a macro that executes several queries to an Access database, the left side of my worksheet has a gray shading that looks like a ghost of the auto recovery pane. I cannot seem to make it go away. I have recently upgraded from Office 2000 to XP. I was not having this problem in 2000.

Anyone have any ideas?

I saw a similar posting back in Oct 2005, but did not see much of a resolution. Andrew Paulson, you helped out.
