I have made this formula and the criteria is not working properly. =VLOOKUP($G$2,emplist,2,1)

G2 is the social sec # I input

emplist is the database of name, dept, ss#, title.

The right criteria appears for title & dept.

However, for the name it appears a different name other than the ss# specified. What is wrong?

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce

try =VLOOKUP($G$2,emplist,2,false)
