Need to ad 10% plus 1 to a column

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Hi Brian-123

Type 1.1 in a spare cell, copy it, select your column and Paste, Special Values, Multiply. Then type 1 in a spare cell, copy it, select your column and Paste, Special Values, Add. That will increase the value of your cells by 10% then increase that value by 1.
Afraid I do not follow why you would then want to delete the column.
Hope this helps

Derek

So you want to add 10% to a number, then add 1 to that number? Or do you want to add 110% to that number?

If you want to add 10%, then add 1 to the new number, you can do this:

in a blank cell, type 1.1

copy that cell, then select your entire range that you want to add 10% to. Right-Click and select Paste Special (or go to Edit-Paste Special. In the Paste Special Dialog Box, under "Operation", select the multiply option. Click OK.

Now type 1 in a blank cell (or the one you had 1.1 in) and do the same thing, except this time select the Add option in the paste special dialog box.

No need to delete your original column, because it now reflects the changes!

Hope this helps,

Russell
