I'm trying to have a cell (E16) change to green if cells E5-15 are >5 or red if E5-15 are < .5 That's the general situation. This is my first post so I apologize in advance. ~tb

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.

Use Format|Conditional Formatting.

By the way: Is

E5-15 ===> E5:E15 ?

Please be more specific. Do you want the color of E16 to be based on the sum of E5 through E16, any value in that range, or all values in that range. (sounds like conditional formatting)

Yes I mean E5:E15, sorry. and yes the sum of those. Basically I'm trying to flag a cell if the amounts are > or < a certain amount. thanks

Click on Format-Conditional Formatting, and change the dropdown to Formula Is. Enter: -

=SUM(E5:E15)>5

and choose your format.

Add a condition, and this time use the formula: -

=SUM(E5:E15)<0.5

and again choose your format.
