Pivot Table error when I drag in Fields

Hi: Can anyone tell me why I continually get Pt Errors when I drag in multiple fields? The error is something to the effect "Can't do this--too many fields--please drag off other fields to make this work." I realize 65K is the limit on Excel Rows. Does a PT have a similar constraint? Can I override or backdoor it? Also, when I try and build a Pt out of 65k Rows and Columns, I get "too many unique items" which means I can't run the PT. Again, how can I overcome this?
