I have a chart pulling data from columns that I want hidden. When I hide them, the chart goes blank. Is there any way to keep this from happening?

Can Excel fill bagel flavors?
You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
I've found the simplest thing to do is to change the text color on the cells to be the same as the background. The column is still there, but the data is invisible.

Put your data on a separate worksheet and hide that worksheet using the Format | Sheet | Hide menu command.
