1. When I enter ="1/1/1995" on a NEW worksheet,I get a numerical answer as expected.
2. When I enter the same info on an EXISTING
worksheet,I get the date and cannot get EXCEL to recognize it as a number.
3. How can I correct this situation?

Thanks ... Al Nasitano

Excel Facts

Excel Can Read to You
Customize Quick Access Toolbar. From All Commands, add Speak Cells or Speak Cells on Enter to QAT. Select cells. Press Speak Cells.
Hi

Probably you have the cells formatted as Text, use any date format.

Or you can easily convert by copying a number 0 from any cell, selecting the dates and going to Edit>Paste Special | Add then format as dates
